Getting settled in a new country is often difficult. Many things that native Iowans take for granted are new to those who haven’t grown up in this area or the United States. For example, our grocery stores, doctor’s offices, and schools work differently than those in other countries and can be confusing to someone who was raised in a different country.

Newly arrived immigrants and refugees are welcomed by the Association with gifts of household supplies and on-going advice and help from those who have come before them.

If you would like to volunteer to help drive a newly arrived resident to a doctor’s appointment, school registration appointment, or to just sit and answer questions, please contact us at! We look forward to hearing from you, as will our clients, and greatly appreciate your friendship and kindness.
