Getting settled in a new country is often difficult. Many things that native Iowan’s take for granted are new to those who haven’t grown up in this area or the United States. Our grocery stores, doctor’s offices and schools, for example, use different processes than what someone who was raised in a different country is used to.
Newly arrived immigrants and refugees are welcomed by the Association typically with gifts of household supplies plus on-going advice and help from those who have gone before them.
If you would like to volunteer to help drive a newly arrived resident to a doctor’s appointment, school registration appointment or to just sit and answer questions, please contact us! We look forward to hearing from you as will our clients that will greatly appreciate the friendship and kindness.
